EVENT INFORMATION

Goldwind Australia. Presented by Senior Project Delivery Manager David Brown (Banana Range Wind Farm & Clarke Creek Wind and Solar Farm Project).

The Banana Range Wind Farm project is located approximately 120km south-west of Gladstone and 20 km west of f Biloela in Central Queensland.  The project is currently in the feasibility phase and when constructed it will comprise up to 50 wind turbines with a power output of of approximately 180 MW. The construction period for the entire project will be around 24 months.  The Wind Farm is currently in the feasibility phase with intended construction to commence in late 2020 and take up to 2 years to fully complete. At its peak a workforce of at least 100 people are required to construct the project.  Works include gravel roads, power cables, power lines with wind turbine foundation holes to be dug and concrete to be poured and turbines to be built. Opportunities for local suppliers to get involved to supply services during the construction and operational phases, include: Plant and equipment hire, Road construction, Excavation and earthmoving, Trenching, Concrete batching and supply, Electrical contracting, Cranage, Steel fixing, Logistics, Electrical works and Accommodation and food providers.

The Clarke Creek Wind and Solar Farm project is located 150 km north west of Rockhampton. The project has received State and Federal Government approvals to develop up to 195 wind turbines with a power output over 800 MW, between 200 MW and 400 MW of solar power, and battery energy storage.  The construction of the Wind and Solar Farm will take up to 3 years and at construction peak, the workforce will be approximately 350 people.

Local Business Participation Program
Stage Three is the engagement stage where the main contractor and major subcontractors for the project, will engage subcontractors and suppliers. Stage three spans the phases of construction and the transition into the operations phase.  The main contractor and/or major subcontractor may engage suppliers and subcontractors according to their normal procurement processes which includes tendering for particular work. Prior to engagement, companies may be required to complete a pre-qualification approval according to the requirements of the hiring company (main contractor or major subcontractor).

Senior Project Delivery Manager David Brown has over 20 years’ experience in Project Management, predominately in the Power Generation Industry working with Major EPC/OEM’s with Raytheon, Washington Group, GE Energy in The Middle East delivering large Combined Cycle Power Projects. David moved to Australia for the start of the GE Renewables drive, successfully delivering Wind Farm projects in Australia, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. David has also worked with Nexif Energy at the FEED end of projects through to financial close then on to full execution. Prior to this, David kicked off his professional career in the Oil and Gas Industry in and around the UK for the best part of 10 years.

 

Downer EDI Works and FKG Group Joint Venture.  Presented by FKG Senior Project Manager, Defence Development, Martin MacDonald.

   

Downer along with its joint venture partner FKG Group, have been appointed by the Department of Defence as Managing Contractor to deliver the Shoalwater Bay Training Area Remediation Project.

The scope of work includes:

  • Improvements to support increased large-scale joint and multinational training activities, including airfield and beach landing site upgrades; and
  • Improvement of key training facilities to support significantly increased usage, including camp, access road and creek crossing upgrades, and the construction of a new Urban Operations Training Facility.

The 12-month procurement process includes the undertaking of several initiatives in Central and North Queensland to ensure strong local industry participation was achieved in both the preparation of the tender and ultimate delivery of the project.

FK Gardner and Sons P/L and Downer EDI Works P/L joint venture (the managing contractor) are inviting EOIs for work packages which include, Bulk earthworks, Civil, Pavements, Concrete works, Concrete panels, Metalwork, Structural steel, Painting, Linemarking, General site activity suppliers and subcontractors, Carpentry, Ceilings and Partitions, Doors and Windows, Internal finishes, FF&E, Landscaping, Fencing, Roofing, Roof safety and Services.

All subcontractors and suppliers interested in tendering for the works are requested to submit an EOI which is the first stage of a two-stage tender process.  The managing contractor will select registered tenderers for each trade package and construction of the project is expected to commence in stages from 2020.

FKG Senior Project Manager, Defence Development, Martin MacDonald joined the FKG Group in 2016 and is responsible for leading the Downer & FKG JV for the planning and delivery of the Shoalwater Bay Training Area Remediation Project. With 17 years in the construction industry working across QLD, NSW and the ACT, he is a proven construction professional who provides extensive experience in delivering regional infrastructure projects for the Department of Defence.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations inside 72 hours of the event date are subject to full payment to cover fixed cost commitments. Event registration fees will not be refunded or allocated to another event in these circumstances.  Substitutions of attendees can be made at any stage at no extra cost. A full refund will be given to all registrants if a session has been cancelled by Resource Industry Media.
